THE BOY WHO WENT TO SCHOOL IN A SKIRT
“I protested petty rules aplenty at school but I regret to say that I never walked to class in a skirt. Chris Whitehead, a 12 year-old from Cambridgeshire, put his knees on the line back in May as he campaigned that boys at his school should (quite rightly) be allowed to wear shorts in hot weather. He spotted that the uniform policy didn’t specify the sex of the skirt-wearers and so, using this loophole, unfazed by inevitable gibes, he “got a few followers, made banners, and came in in a skirt for a peaceful march”. He didn’t hit anybody or raid his local Dixons and he was nominated for a Liberty human rights award.
If I had been alive in the late 30’s, I would have gone to Spain to fight against the fascist pigs. A las barricadas!
